Broken Crayons still colour

I had an epiphany after an awful thing happened to me. My phone fell and this time, it broke. It had been falling before this time but not as high and on a hard surface as it did this time. The moment it fell, I didn’t feel any different as the pouch was on it so I didn’t expect anything special.

An attendant near me said “Oh, sorry” and that struck something in me. I felt different almost immediately. ‘Did my phone break? I hope nothing is wrong’ are all thoughts that ran through my mind in a split second. I immediately turned my phone and saw a slight crack beside the camera lens and what would happen next was a big shocker.

I removed the pouch, and my phone cracked like those Danfo1 buses’ windscreens. I felt my heart in my mouth. ‘Ah, God! What is this? How would I be able to live with this unplanned expense?’ These were the thoughts that filled my mind. I started making inquiries on how I could repair the phone or change the phone in its entirety. I didn’t think the phone would work as well as it used to and I wouldn’t just be comfortable handling a broken gadget…hmmm.

Long story short, the broken glass is still broken, and the functionality hasn’t diminished. The picture quality is still great and I think the battery quality is okay. To me, my phone looks imperfect and incapable of being an aesthetically pleasing gadget; however, by the standard of the manufacturer, the phone can still look as good as it was before the fall and even while it is broken it can still perform the exact functions it was made for.

In life, you can get beaten down, broken, and hurt by those you trust the most. You can experience failure that makes you question your abilities and even think you’re a fraud, but that’s not the end.

You were made for so much more and most times, you’ll experience bumps and hiccups to grow to becoming a Resilient person. So even when the world is about to give up on you, to say you’re not worthy anymore, to say your tangibility has been lost; don’t give up on yourself as your Maker created you with the fortitude to go through all you will encounter and come out stronger.

The only person that can peg you down with a name is your maker and if He hasn’t called you any of the things you keep hearing, don’t stop going and believing you’re that person your maker has called you to be.

Come into alignment with your gifts and keep showing up with your best self. Remember that, Life only gives you what you demand, and not making a demand is also a demand.

The choice is yours first to make. Will you stay down or rise confidently to the challenge of being you despite the fall?

You are Valuable, purposeful, and worthy.

No matter how broken you are, you can still colour.
