3 reasons you aren’t Consistent!

Getting things done and being excellent at them doesn’t happen in a day. No person born today starts out at college without first going through the necessary development that is needed to attain the nurture and stature needed for the college level.

When you start out something, the aim is to get a final result. The result might be something tangible like numbers or it can be in ‘touched lives’ and testimonies.

You know your ‘why’ and on the way to the ‘why’, there is a process involved in getting to that destination. To achieve your desired result, especially within the timeframe you have marked out for that result, you need consistency.

Consistency is steady continuity. You decide to show up in a particular way at certain times and stick to it, that’s consistency.

Consistency isn’t apathetic to growth. Consistency in itself reveals areas where you need to improve yourself thereby building up to growth. It shows your growth pattern and gives an appreciation of the process involved in your growth.

There are a lot of reasons why you are not consistent. The chief of them might be Procrastination. Let’s however check out three (other) reasons you are consistent.

  • You are spreading yourself too thin.

It’s amazing to do so many things especially if they are related and align to your person but there comes a point where you need to cast your focus on what is really important.

When you have so many things going on, it would be a whole stretch of to-dos and a herculean task to fulfill. This leads to inconsistency as some things will suffer and you might experience burnout.

You can delegate or drop off some things to attend to the most pressing ones.

  • You love spontaneity.

Spontaneity is great and fun. It gives room for adventure and surprises but leaves out the grey days when you wouldn’t be up for any fun. On days like that, you need to keep going but how?

Planning. It does the trick. When you have a plan and leave room for ‘spontaneity’, it helps you better channel your creativity and not blank out inadvertently; not like anyone blanks out on purpose but this could be a time when you take a break to refresh while your plan is saving the days.

  • Actionable plans.

Having a plan isn’t enough, you need to have actionable plans that can be figured out (not vague), tracked, and measured. Be as specific as you can be in your planning and lastly, be confident that you will follow you.

The popular phrase, ‘if you fail to plan, you plan to fail’ might have been overstretched as it’s not a definite failure, but it is in some wise, true. Failure to plan might lead to a drop in productivity, unfulfillment and not meeting your goals.

It all starts in the mind. Remain confident that you can stay consistent and watch your consistency become goals.
