Goodbyes.

Goodbye symbolises a separation, either temporal or permanent. It is an expression of one’s goodwill to another. It has become a usual salutation that you don’t need a reminder to say upon separation from a person or persons you spent time with.

While it is important to say goodbye to a person exiting our present space, goodbyes are also pointers to the fact that you cannot control everything in life. People and things have exit periods.

Goodbyes tell a tale never-ending. When you say goodbye, you can only then control what happens within your confines. The time spent, the impact made, and the love given become memories you can relish.

You can say goodbye to things, people, and places. While this might seem usual, it emphasizes the essence of being present in the moment and making the most of what you can while you can.

With goodbyes, you learn that though the past is in the past, it still matters so much as some relationships can no longer be forged in the present, some lessons will be irrelevant and at best for others coming behind and time will reveal that some chapters are ended (that the goodbye to that particular thing or person was final).

You can control some goodbyes – breaking off a relationship, quitting your job, among others but with people, no one can state categorically when the final goodbye will be. This teaches us to express as much as we feel about people, to not be emotional hoarders, and to give people their flowers when they can smell them.

I hope life is fair to you and you get to do as much as you can before the final goodbye sets in.

Live, Love, and make the most of the present as you have it.
