Day 2 – Continue Running…

The phrase ‘continue running’ means much more to Nigerians than it does to the rest of the world at this point; it is comical and also a pointer to a significant entity in the country. This post isn’t about the President or his interview responses but the significance of day two as well as every other day aside from day one.

Read one day, day one.

There is a lot of momentum on the first day. I mean, it takes a lot to start out something you have been wanting to do all the while so you get the relief from having done it which could lead to relaxation which could also lead to laxity.

This might be extreme and not particular to everyone but this is also the reason why people talk a lot about planning, and execution timelines among other things.

Read how to finish what you start.

It’s really important that when you are starting out something, you start as you can. It doesn’t have to be perfect, however, you need to count the cost of that thing you want to go into to know if you would be able to withstand ‘the pressure’ when it gets tough.

I remember how I used to think that if I really liked something then it would be easy or if something didn’t seem technical then I could just glide through and be successful. I was wrong and very wrong at that.

No matter how a thing seems easy on the outside, there’s a lot of work going on behind the scenes to make it look simple and seamless on the outside. So when you want to start a thing or you’ve started, take out time to know better and don’t rely on the existing knowledge you have alone – reach out to more knowledgeable people, seek counsel, move outside of your comfort zone, and be the person you saw when you were inspired to take that step.

Remember that day one is important but having the grit and resilience to keep going despite challenges is what is most important. In common parlance, ‘make sure you have evidence’.

This doesn’t rule out quitting when you know something isn’t working for you. Don’t be too conscious of what anyone would say that you stay put and stuck on a spot.

Read knowing when to walk away.

As always, I am rooting for you. Don’t stop running with your vision. Keep winning.
