Who do you see when you think about Fatherhood?

It is okay if it isn’t your biological Father; it is okay if God is the only Father you have ever known. It is okay if those you looked up to as Fathers, hurt you, broke your spirit and made life’s journey one you run on wounded heels. It’s also okay if daddy and daddies have been all you had and still have.

Fatherhood is a gift, one that Fathers shouldn’t make light of, one that boys growing into men should aspire to give a true depiction of, and one that can change the course of a human’s life.

Fathers, in whatever form (biological or through tutelage) have a huge responsibility to play in the life of an individual.

Fathers have a loud voice of influence in the family regardless of how quiet or gentle they are in making their point. Their inactions and actions can make and mar the personalities of individuals they are fathering.

I think that regardless of the personalities of your parents (biological or not), you should love and honour them. This can be hard because …, but regardless of what you because might be, understand that whatever decision they take on your behalf or make for  you to take is borne out of love.

I personally think, Fathers can do better in this generation.

It is okay to feel love covertly and show tough love, but be there for your family; be there for your wife, be there for your children. It baffles me a lot of times when people think in marriage, it’s only the man that needs his wife to mother him and he doesn’t have to be a Father to her. It should be both ways.

Fathers definitely deserve flowers!

Fathers deserve flowers and I hope they get as much and more than they deserve. If you have a dad, I think you should make him feel extra special today especially if you have been stalling.

Happy Father’s day!
